Meritus Health (“Meritus”), Western Maryland’s largest health care provider, is in the process of forming the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine (“MSOM”) to advance its mission to improve health and to address a significant physician shortage in western Maryland, southern Pennsylvania, and the eastern panhandle of West Virginia.

The MSOM facilities are under construction and proposed to open in 2025. To accommodate needed medical student housing, Radnor has been selected as developer of a new 364-unit, 468-bed residential community totaling 360,000 square feet adjacent to Meritus’ campus in Hagerstown, MD.

Situated on a 28-acre site, the seven-building housing development will offer a mix of one- and two-bedroom units with covered and surface parking. The facility will include a central public green space and plaza to enhance outdoor passive recreation. A tree-lined entry drive will lead to an amenity building offering co-working and study space, fitness, gaming, and gathering areas. Construction began in early 2024, and the project will open to serve the inaugural MSOM class prior to the Fall 2025 semester.
