Radnor Wins 2026 SHB Innovator Award for On-Campus Best New Development

Radnor was honored at the 2026 Student Housing Business Innovator Awards with On-Campus Best New Development for our project, Meritus Commons at the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine.

The On-Campus Best New Development Award recognizes a student housing development that solved a unique need for a university or college, seamlessly blended into the campus fabric, and performed optimally relative to budget and timing.

Design Collective, the project’s architect and interior design firm, also won for On-Campus Best Architecture/Design.

The winning project, Meritus Commons, provided needed housing for Maryland’s first new medical school in over 100 years. Meritus Commons is a 468-bed residential facility that supports community, well-being, and close proximity to campus.

The 28-acre development comprises seven buildings offering one-and two-bedroom units with covered and surface parking, a central green space and plaza as an outdoor recreational hub, and clubhouse amenity building featuring co-working spaces, fitness facilities, gaming areas, a dog park/wash, and gathering areas.

Radnor worked with Meritus to institute a phased development plan, focusing first on speed to deliver 182 units (260 beds) in phase one, followed by 160 units (208 beds) in phase two. This approach delivered amenities and critical infrastructure quickly while expanding residential capacity at build-out.

To accommodate the Fall 2025 MSOM class, Radnor expedited architectural and civil design, securing all approvals within 12 months. Phase one construction began in early 2024 and was delivered in May 2025. Phase two construction is underway and ahead of schedule, with delivery slated for summer 2026.

The awards ceremony took place on March 31, 2026 during the InterFace Student Housing conference in Austin, Texas, hosted by Student Housing Business and France Media.
