In spring 2025, McGinley Hall received LEED Silver certification, achieving 51 points under LEED v4 BD+C New Construction. It is Duquesne University’s first LEED certified building, marking a significant achievement for the University.
Delivered in 2024, McGinley Hall completed the most recent phase of an award-winning, multi-year campus renewal initiative between Radnor and Duquesne to deliver over 1,550 student beds. Through renovation, repositioning, and new construction, the partnership modernized university housing, improved operational efficiency, and generated needed capital to reinvest in core institutional missions.
The 11-story, 556-bed new housing facility for upper-division and graduate students represents several milestones for Duquesne; in addition to being the University’s first ever purpose-built apartments, McGinley Hall also completes its first new student housing project in over a decade.
With a focus on a high-performance envelope and highly efficient systems, McGinley is projected to reduce energy consumption by 15% and water use by 40% compared to a baseline building. Radnor led a project team, including Rycon Construction, Indovina Associates Architects, Design Collective, and BranchPattern, that was highly collaborative and aligned in delivering sustainable solutions.
